A Look at Our Culture of Sustainability

July 11, 2018

You may have heard us mention our commitment to sustainability here and there, but we thought it would be nice to go a little deeper — to show you what we really mean in detail.

We believe that it is everyone's responsibility to be good stewards of the environment, individuals and corporations alike, which is why we bear the burden of research and carefully vet every product we use for environmental and social impact. Here are a few ways we do this day to day.

We use high-quality products that will last a lifetime.

One of the best things we can do is provide our customers with products that will stand the test of time. Not only does this ensure you're getting your money's worth, but it also means you won't have to re-insulate a few years down the line and send the old insulation to landfill.

We work with companies who share our values.

At Ward Insulation, every product we use was manufactured by a company with rigorous sustainability standards similar to ours. Our favorite spray foam, for example, emits exactly zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs) — chemicals which have been known to have adverse health effects and are often present in other, lesser spray foam products — and has a global warming potential of just 1, where others easily reach 1,000.

We are committed to recycling at every point in our process.

Recycling is hugely important to managing our waste output and making the most of our natural resources. We uphold this value by recycling in the office and at the warehouse, as well as using a variety of insulation and concrete lifting products that are made from recycled materials.

For example, Certainteed's Sustainable Fiberglass Insulation is made entirely from post-consumer recycled glass, and our concrete lifting foam is made up of between 39 and 49 percent recycled material. Cool, right?

We are always looking for ways to improve.

Sustainability is at the core of who we are as a company (in fact, it's a part of our mission!). But to maintain this standard, we know that we have to continually evolve. Do you have any suggestions as to how we might be more eco-friendly? Let us know! We are all ears.
